Whether you have heard of it or not, the idea of camping outdoors on your boat dock is quite exciting. Usually, we camp out in the woods. What most of us forget is that the point of camping is to spend time outdoors. Therefore, it doesn’t matter where or how you plan on doing it. What matters is that you are camping. To get started, all you need is a boat dock and some camping gear.
Why Invest in a Boat Dock for Camping?
If you don’t have a boat dock to camp on, you can either buy or rent one for as long as you want. By camping on your boat dock, you don’t have to go far from your home. It’s convenient.
Since you want an outdoor experience, only visit your home if you truly need something. Otherwise, just imagine you are far away from home. When you are investing in a boat dock, you are investing for a lifetime. Not only does it give you the opportunity to camp and have fun, but it also increases the value of your waterfront property.
What Camping Gear Do You Need to Bring?
Since you’re camping on your boat dock, you don’t need to bring a tent, just your sleeping bags, unless you’re afraid of the creepy-crawly bugs. If so, we suggest taking a tent along with your sleeping bags to place in it in the summers.
You don’t need a tent in the winters, as bugs tend to stay in their homes, but may need one if it’s really chilly outside. For maximum comfort outdoors on your boat dock, bring a camping pillow. Since carrying items from your home to the boat dock is convenient and easy, you can set up a table with chairs as well. Play a game while on the boat dock or eat outdoors.
While you are at it, bring a portable barbecue grill with you. You can cook freshly caught fish on it, given it is allowed. If fishing is allowed under catch-and-release rules, consider bringing your own fish to grill. You can even grill other types of food besides fish on it.
You can take other cooking supplies with you too, such as cooking pots, eating and cooking utensils, and coolers, to keep your drinks and food cold, a cutting boat, and whatever you think is necessary. Come nightfall, turn on your fuel or battery-operated lantern. If you have installed solar-powered lights on your boat dock that automatically come on at night, you don’t need any other source of light.
