The Alphabet Game, I Spy, and Dice are a few traditional games kids used to play in the car. Today, children get their entertainment from tablets, phones, and electronic games. So, what are your options when taking a boat trip? Your kids are bound to throw a temper tantrum or get bored after a while. So, you need to come up with something different or give the old a twist to make it more appealing.
You can play a version of UNO developed for a floating table. You can also play other games, such as Tic Tac Toe, volleyball, ring toss, and cornhole. Here’s a new one: Single sea shanties, karaoke style.
If you are renting a boat for the weekend, we recommend a pontoon boat. It has plenty of open space, allowing you to do fun things. Let’s look at the games you can play on your boat and in the water:
Human Ring Toss
Someone will sit on a raft, raise their hands in the air, and become the target. The kids on the boat can then pick up floatable hula hoops and toss them at the target.
Ball Toss
This game is a bit complex to set up but fun to play. You can use rafts or tubes as the target. Color-code the tubes and assign them points. Attach a fabric in the tube’s cutout so it does not fall through if your ball lands in it.
The person to land the most balls in different targets wins.
Pool Noodle Joust
You can play this game in the water or on the deck. We recommend the former because you have plenty of room to protect yourself from an attack. The noodles, in this case, are made of foam and float in the water. Don’t forget to wear a life jacket for this game.
Water Basketball Game
Get a portable basketball net for the boat and attach it to the railing. This goal is specifically made for boats, so if you accidentally knock it down, it will stay afloat.
Stomp Rocket
How good of a swimmer are you compared to your kids? Let’s put it to the test! Stomp rocket is a fun game played on the boat and in water.
The premise is simple: Choose your teammate. Place a rocket on the deck and stomp on it hard. The rocket will fly into the air and land in the water.
The fun begins now. Your teammate has to dive into the water and fetch the rocket. The team that has the most rockets wins. If you plan to play this game, get the right rockets online. These are not your ordinary fireworks that need to be positioned correctly to avoid harming yourself.
So, what do you think — do these games sound exciting? We are sure your kids will love them more than tubing and other water sports.
